Beginning on
Friday, September 23, 2005, at 6:00 pm, and running
through Sunday morning, The Katrina Relief Concert,
organized by Entertainment Aid in coordination with Sam Leach, American English, Onesti
Entertainment, and Michael and Joeleen Stanard, will
be held at the northern Illinois' newest outdoor
concert venue, located in the tiny Village of
Greenwood, just north of Historic Woodstock,
Illinois. The venue, located at 5112 Greenwood Road
next to Galt Airport, features a 50’ X 70’ covered
stage with lawn seating for over 12,000.
Sam Leach, manager of American English, Liverpool
resident and original promoter of the Beatles, is
also coordinating an identical Katrina Relief
concert internationally.
Karen
Vaneé of 95.9FM - The River will be hosting the
opening evening of music.
Tribute performances will begin
at 6:00 pm on Friday and run through Saturday
morning. American English (Beatles Tribute),
Elevation (U2 Tribute), The New Invaders (60‘s
Tribute), Hot Rocks (Rolling Stones Tribute),
Instant Karma (Tribute To John Lennon), Mark
Staycer (solo Lennon tribute), The Amazing Kappa,
The Midway Ramblers (Cajun Tribute), Metermaid,
G-Man Blues and The Neverly Brothers (50's - 60's),
along with many more surprise musicians, will be
kicking off the event.

Donuts and coffee will be available for breakfast
purchase after the tributes session ends. The
“Jam Band” begins at 12:00 pm, featuring a
wide array of original artists - Madvine, Malfunktion, Sweet Pick, Tall Grass
Magicians, Stray Toasters, Venetian Red, Rob Webster and Friends,
and Dag Juhlin of Poi Dog Pondering. Problem
Child, a tribute to Bon Scott and AC/DC will bring
the concert to a spectacular close at midnight,
Sunday morning. The Saturday "Jam Band" lineup
will be coordinated by Madvine's own Tom Frawley.
A special guest appearance
will be made by Thaddeus Richard, a former
member of Paul McCartney’s Wings band and a
hurricane Katrina survivor from the New Orleans
area. Richard was the clarinet soloist in the Wings
song “Listen To What the Man Said,” and many other
Wings songs. Thaddeus also played with McCartney in
New Orleans on his Driving Rain Tour in 2002. He
will be speaking about the devastation that occurred
in New Orleans and accompanying American English.
The outdoor venue can
accommodate up to 12,000 people. Some limited
chaired seating will be available, but it is
recommended that attendees bring blankets,
umbrellas and lawn chairs.
Special accommodations will be
made for the disabled.
100% of the profits will be donated to The Salvation Army.
The Stanards, owners of Galt
Airport, are graciously donating their land and
major influence to make the Woodstock Katrina Relief
Concert a major contribution to relief efforts.
“Uncle Mike” and his MLH Electrolite lighting
company will be providing the lighting for the
event.
Gates open at 5:00pm. Ticket prices for a 2-day pass
will be $20.00 at the gate ( $10.00 for 12 and
under). Parking will be $5.00 per day.
Guests are invited to stay the night either camping
under the stars (no tents allowed, so bring a
sleeping bag) or camp out in your vehicle. There
will be
NO CAMP FIRES ALLOWED
due to insurance reasons.
No coolers, food, beverages or alcohol will be
allowed to be brought in the concert venue.
We're also working with some local hotels to try and
get discount rates for festival goers.
Food and beer will be available
for purchase.
The Salvation Army
is asking everyone to bring along these items to
help the victims of Katrina:
toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant, soap,
towels, NEW underwear, socks, and t-shirts. |
